Lionel Messi was taken off on a stretcher and looked to be in serious pain in Barcelona's 2-1 win at Athletico Madrid on Sunday. The Argentine international was stretchered off and replaced by Bojan deep in stoppage after being stepped on the ankle by Tomas Ujfalusi, who was sent off. Barcelona fans will be hoping for good news from the reports expected to come from the medical staff later today. Barcelona, in the meantime, failed to take care of the numerous chances in front of the Athletico goal, but still managed to come away with the travelling win. David Villa was the main victim in front of the goal, but Messi and Gerard Pique made sure of the three-points. Raúl García had scored an equaliser for the hosts in the 25th minute.
